“We are pleased to be working with Heneghan on this project,” Jersey County Engineer Tom Klasner said. The contract calls for improvements to about 2.5 miles of Delhi Road between Grange Hall and Oak Rest Roads. Improvements include road resurfacing, widening, and guard rails, which will make the road safer for motorists. Klasner said this will be the first improvements made to the 2.5 mile stretch of road since its construction around 1940. Klasner added this section of road was targeted for improvements because it experiences more traffic due to motorists traveling to Brighton. The total cost of improvements is estimated at about $2,000,000, which includes the engineering and construction. President of Heneghan and Associates, Dean Heneghan stated, “We are happy to be part of this project and making a safer environment for Jersey County residents. We’re ready to get to work.” Construction is scheduled to start sometime during the summer of 2009.
