Commissioner Andy Macias announced that the city has received a $25,000 grant written by Heneghan and Associates for a drainage study on Curtis and Adams streets. The city will pay a $20,000 share for the study.

The project encompasses the area south of Illinois Route 16 and east of U.S. 67, including the railroad there, Macias said.

The area needs work done to improve the storm drainage before more development can take place in that area, he said.

It will be several weeks before the actual study work can begin, he said.
